The State Fire Marshal’s Office, in coordination with the Auburn Police Department, continues to investigate the death of a man found outdside his tent on Washington Street North on Tuesday, March 3, 2026.

On Wednesday, the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta confimed the deceased has been identified as Jaime Jimino, 48,  formerlly of Portland, who had recentlyy been a homeless individual in the Auburn area.  The Office of Chief Medical Examiner will continue to investigate to determine the cause and manner of Mr. Jimino’s death.  Final results are expected to take several weeks.  At this time, no foul play is suspected.  Authorities have confirmed that a small fire occurred in and around Mr Jiminos’ tent.
