Immigration Issues Focus of Community Forum on May 10th

You are invited to attend a community forum on immigrant issues on Saturday, May 10, 12:30 – 2:30 pm., at the First Parish Unitarian Universalist Church, 425 Congress Street in Portland.  The focus will be on current issues facing the immigrant community.  The forum will offer guidance on how best to support those in need.

The forum will include a call to action by Rev. Jodi Hayashida, Director of Multi Faith Justice Maine.  There will be a panel moderated by Mufalo Chitam, Director of Maine Immigrants Rights Coalition.  The panel is to be composed of community leaders from different sectors of the community.

The livelihoods of every day people are under attack.  Let’s come together to strengthen our relational ties by centering the needs of our at-risk immigrant neighbors according to the pr of the forum.  Hear from leaders, organizers and community members on how we can support the efforts at work and build a stronger community.

There will be time for questions and action planning, followed by a social hour including light snacks, and information tables hosted by participating organizations.
