Governor Janet T. Mills (D) directed that the US and State of Maine flags be lowered to half-staff statewide today, Sunday, May 4th in honor of the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service.  The annual service honoring firefighters who died in the line of duty during the previous year took place today in Emmitsburg, Maryland.

This is in accordance with a directive from the President of the US.
