Portland Police reported this morning that today, March 19, 2026 at 8:42 am., they were called to the Homeless Services Center at 654 Riverside Avenue for a report of decomposed human remains found in the woods behind the building.  Upon arrival officers found remains that appeared to have been there for a significant amount of time.

At this time, the death does not appear suspicious.  The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death.  Police are working to identify the deceased.
