“High-Risk” Search in Sanford Yields Six Arrests; One for Drug “Aggravated Trafficking”

John Leroy Gray, 44, of Sanford, was arrested today for aggravated trafficking in fentanyl .  Seized at his 8 York Street residence was a significant amount of fentanyl and drug proceeds according to Shannon Moss, Public Information Officer, for the Maine Department of Safety in Augusta.

Five others were arrested for outstanding warrants.  They are:  Patrick Bachelor, 48, of Sanford; Katie Boyatsis, 28, of Dover, New Hampshire; Jessica Taylor, 40 of Shapleigh; Tyler Cann, 32, Sanford; and Marissa Tomarchio, 28, of Sanford.  The five were at the 8 York Street residence.  All six arrested were taken to the York County Jail.

On Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at about 9:30 am., the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency and Sanford Police executed a “high-risk” search warrant at 8 York Street, Sanford, a single family home in order to arrrest Gray for felony arrest warrants for drug trafficking. Seventeen (17) people at the 8 York Street residence were detained and identified and released with no incident.

For the past month, responding to citizen complaints and tips from community members, agents from the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency (MDEA) and officers of the Sanford Police Department conducted an investigation into delayed drug trafficking from 8 York Street.  During the investigation, agents and officers observed activity consistent with illegal drug trafficking as well as individuals trafficking illegal drugs armed with firearms.  During the investigation,  a number of undercover purchases of fentanyl were  made from John Leroy Gray who lives at the 8 York Street address.
