On Sunday, March 9, 2025, at approximately 12:42 am., the Fire Marshall’s office responded to a fire at a home on Sea MIst Lane in Harpswell for a fire investigation.  The fire had been extinguished by the Harpswell Fire Department, and no occupants were initially located.  It was believed to be a seasonal residence. Fire Marshall investigators conducted an extensive scene examination to determine the fire’s origin and cause.  During their investigation, they discovered a deceased male inside the structure.  The Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta will determine the identity.  Due to the extent of the damage, the fire is currently classified as undetermined.

The investigation remains ongoing.
