The Grand Opening for the Munjoy Hill branch of Gorham Savings Bank took place late this afternoon.   The new branch is located on the first floor of 118 Congress Street – the new condominium on the top of the Hill.  The new branch is equipped with the latest in banking technology; a new Interactive Teller Machine.  It may be used as an ATM or simply touch the screen and a Gorham Savings Bank teller will be ready to assist you via video link.

Originally, plans had included an outdoor tent with a blue ribbon cutting ceremony.  However, the rain-soaked  day prevented those plans from being implemented.

Welcome to the neighborhood Gorham Savings Bank!  Residents of the Hill have long hoped for a bank to locate on the Hill and so this is very good news for the community. The bank had hoped to  be into this new location much earlier in the season, but due to construction delays, it didn’t happen until this week.

The event was catered by the very best in the area; Oxbow Brewery, Lolita, The Front Room, Rosemont Marker & Bakery,  Portland Pottery Cafe, Silly’s, Homegrown Herb & Tea,  Maine Mead, Maine & Loire.

editor’s note:  Can someone please email me Becky’s last name?!  I forget what it is.
