The President of Kenya His Excellency William S. Ruto with President Joe Biden This Morning at the White House.

Governor Janet T. Mills (D), the first woman governor of Maine and its first woman attorney general, will attend a State Dinner at the White House at the invitation of President Joe Biden and Dr. Jill Biden.  The dinner is in honor of His Excellency Willilam Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Her Excellency Rachel Ruto.

The event, will be held on the South Lawn of the White House, and will include pooled press.  Vice President Harris  and Second Gentleman will also attend.

Lobster is on the menu.

One purpose of the State Visit to the White House is to strengthen relations between the two nations.   One way to do this is to counter China’s  considerable influence in Kenya.

The Governor will return to Maine on Friday according to her office.
