Governor Janet Mills has ordered that the United States and the State of Maine flags be lowered to half-staff statewide from 12:01 am to noon on Memorial Day, Monday, May 25, 2026 in honor and recognition of America’s fallen service members.

“This Memorial Day, as America prepares to mark 250 years since its founding, we remember the generation of American men and women whose sacrifice has preserved our free and undivided republic,” said Governor Mills.  “I invite all Maine people to join me in honoring their sacrifice, remembering their families and renewing our gratitude for the freedoms they died to defend.”
