Funding Available for Innovative Offshore Wind Research

The Maine Governor’s Energy Office (GEO) has issued a Request for Applications (RFA) to advance research at the University of Maine’s quarter-scale floating offshore wind demonstration project in Castine.  The RFA, developed in response to research needs discussed and identified by the Maine Offshore Wind Research Consortium Advisory Board, will provide a unique in-water opportunity for small busiesses to test innovative Blue Tech and monitorig approaches at the site.  A yyotal of $380,000 is available to support this work.

The deadline to submit questions is August 11, 2025.  Applications are due no later than September 17, 2025.  The RFA is availacble here by searching for #202507101.

There will be a hybid meeting of the Maine Offshore Wind Research Consotium Advisory Board on Wednesday, August 13 from 1 – 4 PM.  The meeting will include relevant updates as well as a discussion and ranking of research topics for the third round of consortium funded research projects.  The in-person meeting will be held in the Harvorview Conference Room in the Harold Alfond Student Center at Maine Maritime Academy, located at 1 Pleasant Street in Castine.
