Aurora, 3, of Gray Holds Her Own Sign at a Rally in Portland Several Years Ago. On What Would Have Been the 51st Anniversary of Roe vs. Wade, This Sign is Appropriate Today.
In a very long, rambling and harsh email to mhn.com this mornig Sean Donaghue, the Division Chief for the Emergency Medical Services and Training for the Portland Fire Departmet, chastized this blogger for an inquiry into the chimney fire at Boone’s Restaurant on the Portland waterfront last week. This is the second fire at Boone’s in 11 years – the first was around November 27, 2013. A press release was issued for that fire – why not for this fire? What’s the difference?
Last Saturday morning following a news report that did not include mhn.com, this blogger made multiple phone calls to the Potland Fire Department, requesting information on the resotuion of the waterfromt fire – all of which went unanswered. No member of the Fire Department was available to respond to this blogger’s query. No press release or other statement from the Department on the Boone’s situation was released That is until this moninng. A carefully worded, but blistering critique of this blogger’s query on Saturday morning was received this morning. Apparently, this blogger is responsible for the fact that no one from the Portland Fire Department was available on Saturday morning to respond to this query!
Although Donaghue admtted he talked to the “Portland Press Herald,” the city of Portland’s mouthpiece, he did not make that information available to this blogger. Rather Donahgue took a very adversarial role in this blogger’s inquiry into the same information. Perhaps a professionally trained communicatdions director for the Portland Fire Department rather than the Division Chief for the Emergency Medical Services and Training would have resulted in a constructive dialogue – no?
Back around November 27, 2013 the waterfront seafood restaurant suffered a two-alarm fire. At that time, the Portand Fire Department issued a press release on the situation. Why not this time? What is different? For information on that fire, please visit post herein dated November 27, 2013.
Boone’s Seafood Restaurant has a controversial background which makes it of interest to this blogger. The venue was the subject of numerous articles from various publications when it first opened. For more background information, please visit post herein dated August 22, 2014.
