On Sunday, December 23, at approximately 3:22 pm., the Fire Marshall’s Office was called to 34 Bayview Drive in Portland to assist ih a death investigation involving a fire.  Upon arrival, the Portland Police Department located a deceased male tentatively identified as Lester York, 78.  The decceased will be transported to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta, where an autopsy will be performed to determine a cause of death.  The fire, located in the basement of the home, burned only contents, and did not damage the structure.

The cause of the fire remains under investigtion according to Shannon Moss, Public Information Officer, for the Maine Department of Public Safety.
