On Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at approximaely 12:40 am., the Augusta Regional Communications Center received a 911 call regarding a fire at 762 Ridge Road in Windsor.  The Windsor Fire Department responded and determined that one person had died as a result of the fire.

The deceased has been identified as 25 year old Payson Viles who was discovered in a camper trailer (RV) locaed on the property.  HIs remains have been transported to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta.  A second person escaped the fire with minor injuries.  Investigators from the Fire Marshall’s office responded and are processing the scene.  There is no indication of foul play at this time.  Assisting in the fire scene were the Whiteffield, Jefferson & Somerville Fire Departments.
