On Friday, February 6, 2026, at approximaely 2:44 pm., Maine State Police repsonded to a three-vehicle crash on Blue Hill Road in Surry according to Shannon Moss, Public Information Officer, for the Maine Department of Public Safety, Augusta.

The initial investigation indicates that a 2015 Subaru Forester was traveling northbound when it crossed the center line for an unknown reason and struck two souhbound vehicles;  a 2018 Honda Fit and a 2024 Ram 2500.  The operator of the Subaru Forester sustained critical injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.  The operators of the other two vehicles were transported to a local hospital, where they were treated and later released.  The deceased operator has been identified as Mark Novells, 47, of Brooksville.

The crash remains under investigation.
