This afternoon 12 interpretive signs were officially put on display  at Fort Allen Park on the Eastern Promenade.   The event held under cold and cloudy skies marked the end of a three year restoration program for the Fort.

The design company was Montgomery Design with Nancy Montgomery as its designer and  Jack Vreeland the writer of the signs.  Norway Savings Bank funded the project with the Friends of the Eastern Promenade,  The two went well beyond and above their obligations to make this work so well said Diane Davison, executive director of the Friends.  The signs have a life expectancy of ten years, possibly a little longer according to Nancy Montgomery.

Now visitors to the area will be able to give themselves a self-guided “walk through history” because of the interpretive signs throughout the site.
