The Maker’s Galley, 5 Commercial Street, is closing its young business at the end of this month – September 30th. According to an employee at the next door ” Brickyard Hollow Brewing Co.” talks are underway for the popular bar to expand into the space vacated by Maker’s this month. Such an expansion is not expected to take place until next year. Brickyard is already located in Freeport, Yarmouth, Ogunquit, Skowhegan, Eustis, Brunswick and New Gloucester.
Up on Washington Avenue, the vacation of Maine Mead earlier this year left a large vacant space in between Oxbow Brewing Company and Hardshore Distilling Company. So, the simple solution was for both Hardshore and Oxbow to divide up that space between them to accommodate their own growing business needs.
Earlier this month Hardshore Distilling Company, Jordan Milne, Owner, annouonced an increase in its product line – from the award winning gin to include bourbon – which will be released next month. According to Hardshore’s press release, “the bourbon uses heritage grains grown in our family farm and has been carefully aged to perfection.” Pre-orders for the bourbon are being taken now!
Meanwhile, Oxbow Brewing Company, is in the process of converting the other half of the defunct MaineMead into a tasting room for when its current tasting room is in use for special events. The new Oxbow Brewing Company tasting room is expected to open next month.
