Joe Riley, Director of Skip Murphy’s Sober Living for Men, has put out a call for donations in support of the fire that occurred early Sunday morning at 201 Congress Street, Portland. Atlantic House was a recovery home for 16 men recovering from addictions.

The fire was a three alarm fire that left the facility uninhabitable. A nearby neighbor told MHN.com it was a “bonfire” that residents of Atlantic House had set in the back yard at 201 Congress Street.

An email titled “Sober House Fire on Munjoy Hill Needs Support & Exposure,” from Joe Riley, said: “Please, only donate if appropriate and within your means. Thank you all for helping support my friends who are a great asset to New England families and treatment facilities.” In a later clarifying email, John Barleycorn said in an email in part: “Skip Murphy’s is friends with Atlantic House. All donations will be going to the 17 men who lost everything as well as the Atlantic House to rebuild their mission. Skip Murphy’s is just trying to help get some exposure for those who are in need.” Barleycorn went on to say that the men are living in hotels until Friday.

If you would like to make a monetary donation, it can be sent directly to the “Atlantic House Resilency Fund” at TD Bank North Account #
2426311657.
