Yesterday Congresswoman Chellie Pingree (D) joined Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi in a Congressional delegation to the United Nations Framework Convention on climate change 27th Conferrence in Egypt.  The delegation will convey commitment of the US Congress to continuing the robust progress made to tackle the climate change under the leadership of President Biden.

“Last year at the UN Climate Summit in Glasgow, nations came together to reaffirm climate commitments and agreed on the Glasgow Climate Pact to further reduce greenhouse gas emissions. While COP26 had major successes, there were also shortcomings we must urgently address at this year’s summit in Egypt,” Pingree said.  “After passing the most sigificant piece of climate legislation in US history, Speaker Pelosi, Congressional Democrats and President Biden have demonstrated our commitment to fight climate change.  I look forward to helping turn the global summit’s constructive discussions into substantive action to secure a habitable world for our children and future generations.”

The Congressional delegation to Egypt includes fourteen (14) Congressional members, including Congresswoman Pingree and Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

Pingree traveled to Glasgow, Scotland in 2021 for COP26 with Speaker Pelosi.
