A New Building That Will Provide Rotating Maine Beers, Ciders and Other Beverages to Those in the Portland Beer Garden.

“We are really excited to be making final preparations to open up the Clam Bar,” said Garrett Fitzgerald, owner of the much anticipated Maine seafood mecca at 199 West Commercial Street on the Portland waterfront, yesterday afternoon. The reconstruction of the former Benny’s Famous Fried Clams venue has been a long process, and the results are in. For the public the wait will be well worth the roughly three year wait.

Under the talented ownership of Fitzgerald, who hails from Nova Scotia and who also owns the celebrated Bar Harbor Lobster Company, the family-friendly Clam Bar is slated to open with a “big” menu that includes steamed and fried claims, clam rolls, lobster rolls, cheeseburgers and several kinds of tacos.

A fully stocked bar will add to the enjoyment of the patrons enjoying the outdoor ambiance that only the waterfront can deliver.   A new building will provide rotating Maine beers, ciders and other beverages to those enjoying the Maine Beer Garden away from the clamor of the Old Port.

The Royale Lunch restaurant, formerly on Union Street in the Old Port, even has a spot on the waterfront location from which it serves its delicious food between 7:30 am – 1;00 pm for the time being.  Those hours could be adjusted when the Clam Bar is officially up and running.

The Clam Bar will be open daily from 11:00 am – 9:00 pm according to Fitzgerald.   The Clam Bar is the real deal,. It is not some one’s idea of what an outdoor clam bar should be – it’s the real deal!
