
Director of the City’s Public Works Department Mike Murray Murray is a Long Time Employee of City Hall. Previously he was a Liasison to Peaks Island from City Hall.
Ahead of an approaching Nor’easter’ storm, the city has declared a citywide parking ban beginning at 10:00 pm MONDAY, FEBRUARY 23 through TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 24 at 6: am. Vehicles left on city streets after 10:00 pm on MONDAY night can be ticketed and towed at the owner’s expense. The fine for failing to move your vehicle duirng a parking snow ban is now $130.
Portland is currently forecasted for about 8″ of snow with wind gusts up to 40 mph. There is a winter storm warning in effect from Februry 22 at 7:00 pm until February 23 at 10:00 pm est. With snow expected to arrive around 4:00 pm on Monday mornng, residents are encouraged to move their vehicles into available snow ban parking locaions tonight, Sunday, February 22, ahead of the storm and remain in thise spots until the end of the parkin ban on Tuesday morning. The city will open the Spring Street and Elm Street parking garages on Sunday night from 5:00 pm – 10:oo pm to accomodate anyone wishing to take advantage of the snow ban parking rate of $3. (in after 5:00 pm Sunday and out by Tuesday at 8:00 am.

Approved Snow Ban Parking Areas Include But Are Not Limited to:
All Portland Public School Parking lots, except the Reiche Community Center lot which abuts the school and playing field. This lot is reserved for Community Center use at all times. Must be out of all school lots by 6:30 am.
CUTTER ST. LOTS (off the Eastern Prom) Eastern Prom Cutter Street Middle Lot is CLOSED. Do not park on the East End Boat Ramps.
OCEAN GATEWAY PARKING LOT, 2 C ommercial Sreet (center area blocked off for snow removal)
EASTERN PROM – Turner Street to the East End School Property light pole 33 (waterside) The city’s list also says: Extend closer to Major Charles Loring Memorial Park.
