The city of Portland has issued an alert to residents of high winds and a rain storm starting late tonight and continuing into tomorrow.

Because of this, the city is asking residents with Monday trash pick-up not to put trash bags out until tomorrow morning.  Please be sure all containers and bags are totally and tightly closed because of the anticipated wind.

City crews will place blocades as necessary if streets become flooded.  It’s important that drivers heed these instructions and not go around them should they become blocked. Please remain especially alert when driving in low-lying areas prone to flooding, such as the waterfront along Commercial Street and Somerset Street.

The city will continue to monitor the storm and give out any more advisories should they be warranted.
