The city of Portland is providing an update on the Encamapament Crisis Response Team efforts following the opening of the new emergency shelter at 166 Riverside Industrial Parkway. The city now has approimately 120 available beds at the Homeless Services Center (HSC) because of the opening of 160 Riverside and an additional 50 beds coming online soon, following a limited emergency oder by the City Council on November 13. The number of beds fluctuates daily as beds are filled and others move from the HSC into housing placements.
Once capacity was made available, city staff launched a plan to provide outdreach to the homeless individuals at the Harbor View Memorial Park in order to connect them with the open beds and any other services/shelter needed. The availability of the shelter beds will allow the city to resolve encampments over time due to the addidtional capacity.
