City to Begin Additional Improvements at Riverton Trolley Park Next Month

The city’s Parks, Recreation & Facilities Department  (PRF) will begin site improvements to the parking lot area at Riverton Trolley Park starting August 3, 2026 according to a press release issued yesterday from the city’s spokesperson.

The planned improvements to the parking lot include:

A newly paved parking lot with stormwater enhancements, New signage and pedestrian walkways, New ADA compliant access route from Riverside Street, the parking lot and to the existing public restroom, New wayfinding signage and a designated food truck space.

That means that the main gravel parking lot will be completely closed to vehicles during the construction period, visitors may utilize the Hannaford Parking lot across the street while work is underway and the existing pedestrian path from Riverside Street to the bike park and baseball field will remain open throughout most of the construction period.  However, pedestrian access will be limited during the construction of the proposed bituminous sidewalk.

The existing gravel parking lot currently lacks formal drainage infrastructure and ADA access abililty.  This work will address these issues to better support access to the existing Bike Park, baseball field and walking trails.
