The City of Portand is preparing for a major winter storm Sunday afternoon/evening into Monday.  Portland is forecasted to receive approximately 18 inches of snow.  A citywide parkig ban has been declared for BOTH SUNDAY and MONDAY evenings.  Monday’s trash and recycling collection is being postponed and those with solid waste collections that day are being asked to hold their materials until the following Monday, February 2.

City hall and administrative buildings will be closed for the day on Monday.  The City’s overnight winter warming shelter will be open Sunday, Monday and Tuesday evenings.  Additionally, the City is going to operate the warming shelter as a dayspace on Sunday due to the extreme temperatures.

A citywide parking ban will be in effect beginning at 10:00 pm Sunday, January 25 through 6:00 am Monday, January 26 and Monday, January 26 at 10:00 pm through 6:00 am on Tursday, January 27.  Vehicles left on city streets after 10:00 pm can be ticketed and towed at the owner’s expense.  The fine for failure to move your vehicle during a parking snow ban is NOW $130.  What a rip off.
