The city of Portland would like to inform residents that its September 1 meeting at 5:00 pm will include a public hearing on the proposals being recommended by the Portland Charter Commission.  The Council’s  meeting will take place in-person and remotely via zoom.  Public comment is available via either option according to a press release issued by the city’s spokeswoman today.

The public will be able to weigh in on the substance of the eight proposals.  The Council must vote to approve the proposed ballot questions and summaries and officially place the items on the November 8 2022 ballot.

The city clerk’s office would like residents to know that while the official election ballot will have summaries of the eight proposals, and polling location will have the full text of the proposals available for voters who wish to review it.  Absentee ballots that are requested and sent out will also include a packet with the full text.
