The City of Portland has announced there will be a parking ban in effect starting this evening, Saturday, December 9th a 10:00 pm. The ban ends tomorrow, Sunday at 6:00 am. All vehicles parked on city streets during the ban may be towed to the city’s impound lot at 40 Commercial Street, at the expense of the owner. Vehicles not removed by 7:00 am Sunday, December 10th may also be towed at the owner’s expense.
Please don’t be the first casualty of the city’s first parking ban of the season. Keep your vehicles off city streets starting this evening and into tomorrow morning. It can be inconvenient as well as expensive not to do so. The tow fee is $100. and there are other expenses involved as well – such as outstanding parking tickets, etc.
The city has designated numerous locations for safe off street parking spots. They include: the Cutter Street lots (off the Eastern Promenade); the Eastern Promenade from Turner Street to the East End Community School property at light pole 33 on the water side on Munjoy HIll.
Many public garages are open at reduced rates for extended times.
