The city of Portland is asking residents to park-off street tonight to faciliate the city snow clean-up. The usual off-street parking locations used for parking bans will be available to residents who help with this VOLUNTARY parking ban. City owned garages will offer their reduced parking ban rates for overnight parking. No city wide parking ban has been called.

Locations most convenient for hill residents include: All Portland public school los EXCEPT the lot at Reiche School which abuts the school and playground; parking los on Munjoy and Wilson Streets, formerly known as the Adams School; Cutler Street lots (off the Eastern Prom); Beach Street lot accessible from Commercial Street (this lot is available after 8 pm); and the lot across the street from the International Marine Terminal on Commercial Street (corner of Park and Commercial Streets).

Vehicles can begin to park in these designated areas at 5 pm tonight. Vehicles must be moved from the city lots by 7 am tomorrow morning.

The Public Service asks residents whose trash collection day is Friday to wait until tomorrow morning, 6:30 am, before placing trash and recycling at the curb for pick-up.

People can also call the parking ban hotline at 879-0300 or check the Time and Temp sign for up-to-date postings.
