Supporters of Joey Brunelle Rally Around Him  Last Summer.

A Campaign Sign Spotted up on the Eastern Promenade Recently.

“Yes, the rumors are true.  I intend to run against Nick this year….we’ll be having a more official ‘launch’ press conference in a couple of weeks,” emailed Joey Brunelle last night to this blogger.  The progressive Brunelle is a resident of Munjoy Hill.

Brunelle intends to run against the locaqous Nicholas Mavadones, Jr., a long-time, conservative  city council member.  He is employed at Casco Bay Lines as the operations manager.

In 2017, Joey ran against another conservative, long-time member of the Council in a three-way race; Councilor Jill Duson.  He narrowly lost to Duson while Bree LaCasse came in third in the controversial race.  She was considered by many to be a puppet of Steven Biehle who intended to use her to settle a personal grudge against Joey.

Joey owns a digital communications business.  He designs and builds beautiful, helpful and usable websites and creates educational material for clients across the country.  He is dedicated to using his skills and experience to bring much-needed accessibility and transparency to our city government, to bring our schools into the 21st century, to protect and support the diversity and unique character of our city and to be at all times accessible and accountable to the people of Portland according to his website.

Joey is also a history buff and has previously made a podcost about history called Born Yesterday.  He is a graduate of Brown University, class of 2007.
