A celebratory BridgeBash has been scheduled for Sunday, September 14th between 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm.  The Bash is designed to celebrate the new bridge, Martin’s Point Bridge, that links Falmouth and Portland over the Presumpscot River.  The Bash is to take place on the bridge’s 10 – l/2 foot wide multi-use path and spill over into the adjacent Martin’s Pont Health Care campus.  Free parking for the event is available at the Martin’s Point Health Care parking garage.  The event is free of charge and everyone is welcome, according to a press release issued by Jessica Grondin, of the City of Portland.  The event is co-hosted by the City of Portland, the Town of Falmouth and Martin’s Point Health Care.

A family-oriented event that centers around transportation options on the bride such as walking and driving is planned by a volunteer committee.  Participants can view antique cars, funky cycles and a proposed new trail that will link the multi-use path to the Martin’s Pont trail as well as photos of the new bridge under construction and details of its engineering.  Other attractions include lots of music – acoustic folk, jazz and a well-known ukulele band.

Food trucks, a close-up-look at bridge-building equipment, face painting and glitter tatoos by Partypalogga, free bike decorating clinic for kids, a used book sale and an Apple Pie Bake Off are also part of the fun.
