Biden Calls for Rare Unrestrained Response Against Hamas for Israeli Attack

President Biden Spoke of the Horrific Attack by Hamas on Israel at the White House This Afternoon. Beside the President is VP Harris.

“Israel  has a right to defend itself after this attack,” said President Biden at his second press conference this afternoon in response to the surprise attack by Hamas on Israel on Saturday morning.

Unlike past attacks in the area, the President did not call for restraint by Israel in its response to the Hamas attack.  That left some cable news anchors speculating that an all out ground war into the Gaza Strip may be coming.

There are moments in history when “pure, unadultered evil is unlocked” on countries.  “We are seeing the bloody hand of Hamas to kill Jews,” the President said. “This is one of those moments in history because the stated goal of Hamas is to kill Jews in Israel” the president said in his stark but unequivocal statement this afternoon.  The President described the atrocities being performed upon the Israeli population by Hamas – in graphic detail and that have already been described publicly elsewhere.

The President repeated as he has previously that:  “We stand with Israel.”  Just off a telephone call with the Israelian Prime Minister that delayed the start of the press conference by an hour, Biden said that when Congress returns, he will ask it to take action on behalf of Israel as well as Ukraine.  He called for funds to supply Israel with interceptors to be used for the iron dome that protects the population from incoming missiles.

Fourteen Americans have been killed by the surprise attack on Israel last Saturday.  Twenty Americans are missing; that means that their whereabouts are unknown at this time.  While it is known that Americans have been taken hostage in the Gaza Strip by Hamas, that does not necessarily mean that these 20 are part of the group that  have been taken hostage.

The President warned other terriorists against taking advantage of this situation.  I have one word:  DON’T.”

(“Since its founding, Hamas has declared that Israel has no right to exist, that there are no Israel civilians and that every Israeli citizen is a soldier of the state, and and thus a legitimate target,” is the first paragraph of a front page story in “The New York Times,” today by Steven Erlanger.)
