On Monday, October 14, 2025, at approximately 4:58 pm., Portland Police responded to 1196 Congress Street (the Mobile Gas Station) for a report of an assault. Witnesses reported that the owner of a vehicle was pumping gas when a male suspect entered the vehicle and attempted to drive away. The owner intervened, jumping onto the suspect as the vehicle crashed into nearby bushes.
When officers arrived, they observed the vehicle owner restraining the suspect, who was quickly taken into custody.
The suspect, identified as Aaric Rowe, 38, of South Portland, was transported to the Cumberland County Jail but was dened entry due to a pre-existing medical issue. He was subsequently admitted to Maine Medical Center. Rowe was issued a criminal summons for Reckless Conduct with a Dangerous Weapon, Theft by Unauthorized Use of Property and Robbery.
