Some of the Many Protestors This Afternoon at the Emergency Protest Against Israel’s Starvation of Gaza.
Eighteen people were arrested at an Emergency Protest against Israel’s starvation of the people of Gaza confirmed the Portland Police Department’s spokesman early this evening. No more details are available this evening and a press release will be issued tomorrow he said.
As announced on this blog yesterday, a pro-Palestinian protest was held this afternoon at 3:30 pm. This blogger went to the protest, but remained only long enough to take a humber of photographs and hear the crowd’s chants. No speakers were planned, but it was an “open mic” according to one of the organizers. About fifty protestors participated and they were divided between all four corners of the street outside of the United States Custom House.
According to a front page article in today’s “The New York Times” the United Nations is predicting that 14,000 babies in Gaza could die in the next 48 hours unless truckloads of aid enter. The article “Tensions Climb as Israel’s Allies Condemn Its Escalation in Gaza,” states that Israel has been “blocking humanitarian aid from Gaza for more than two months, even as the United Nations warns that the population is under threat of famine.”
The US is complicit in starving Gazans in order to implement Trump’s plan – eventually for the development of Gaza into a seaside resort by his family.
