Ms. Grassi was discovered yesterday around 10:45 am by Portland Police officers who responded to 362 Cumberland Avenue on a “well-being” check. Vance was taken into custody at the scene. He is being held without bail at the Cumberland County Jail.

An autopsy was conducted by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to determine the cause and manner of death. As said previously, her death was caused by strangulation.
A man who lives near 362 Cumberland Avenue told this blogger this afternoon that he saw police officers wrestle Vance to the ground and handcuff him in front of a large house across the street from 362. This same man said he saw the police dealing with another man near 362 Cumberland, but he was not handcuffed or arrested, apparently. The same individual who is a volunteer at an Amistad Recovery Program said a staff member there told him Vance had been at the center last week talking to a staff member. The murder Ms. Grassi occurred up above the Cumberland Avenue Shop yesterday morning. They were domestic partners.
