Wharf Street in the Old Port the Site of September Shootings.

Back on Monday, September 12, 2022, Portland Police responded to a shooting in the area of 43 Wharf Street that left two people seriously injured just after 1:00 am.

Today, Friday, September 23, 2022, Tyreese Vargas (DOB 01-24-2003) of Westbrook was arrested in connection with the shooting on warrants charging criminal attempt-Murder 2 counts of Elevated Aggravated Assault, Reckless Conduct with a Firearm and 2 counts of Violating Conditions of Release.

Vargas was found walking on Pearl Street and taken into ustody by a team of Portland Officers along with agents with the Federal Bureau of Investigations Safe Street Task Force.

Vargas is being held at the Cumberland County Jail.  In the press release issued, no update on the condition of the two victims was given.  Nor did it indicate whether Vargas knew the two seriously injured victims.
