The 15th annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade took place today after a two-year hiatus because of the COVID-19 pandemic.  Participants began the march down Commercial Street starting at Center Street ending at Franklin Street shortly after noon time.

The Parade was canceled in 2020 and last year a virtual edition was held according to Bob Kearney, the organizer.  Several hundred participants were involved this year and it keeps growing year after year he said.  Several thousand on-lookers lined Commercial Street despite strong winds and cold temperatures that made attending the event challening for some like this blogger to attend.

Governor Janet T. Mills (D), Laoise Moore, Consul General of the Irish Consultant in Boston and Mayors from Westbrook and South Portand, and Portland city councilor Pious Ali reviewed the parade from the reviewing stand set up at Franklin Street.
