The annual Gay Pride Parade kicks off tomorrow afternoon, Saturday, June 18, at 1:00 pm at Monument Square.  This return follows a two year pause because of the COVID-19 pandemic.  The route proceeds down Congress Street to Congress Square Park.  At that point the Parade turns down High Street to Park Avenue to Deering Oaks Park.  A Pride Festival will take place at the Park from 1:00 pm to a5:00 pm.

Once again, all Portland Public Schools will participae in the Parade as it returns after a two-year pause because of the pademic.

“At this year’s Parade, the Portland Public Schools will renew its commitment to celebrating and making visible the contrivbutions and identities of our LGBTQ+, staff, students and partners,” said Superintndent Xavier Botana in a press release issued by his office.  “We will once again have a float entry in the Parade and I invite staff, students, families and others to join us in the marching.”
