The Polar Bear Plunge is Fun!

The Polar Bear Plunge at East End Beach on Munjoy Hill is Traditional.  Lisa Pohlman, is the executive director of the Augusta-based non-profit.

More than 200 Mainers ranging in age from 8 to 78 years of age are registered to participate in the annual Polar Bear effort to fight climate change on the East End Beach of Portland.  The annual event is hosted by the Natural Resources Council of Maine.  Lisa Pohlman, is the executive director of the Augusta based non-profit.

The bone-chilling 5K and dip kicks off morning at Munjoy Hill’s East End Beach on Saturday, December 31st.  The 5K begins at the Back Cove parking area at 11:00 am and the Dip will be at noon at East End Beach.  A shuttle will return participants to their cars at Back Cove after the Dip.

There will be hot coffee by Coffee by Design and solar-panel music on the beach courtesy of ReVision Energy.
