East End Community School (EECS) is planning its 4th annual celebration of crossing guard Danny Lowe for Friday, May 30th from 7:00 am – 7:45 am,; aka “Danny Day.”

Danny is a young man with autism who has dedicated himself to helping young students get safely across the intersection of North and Walnut Streets since 2014.  EECS has celebrated him each spring, beginning in 2022.

First, however, students and families will gather in the afternoon of Thursday, May 29 from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm to decorate the intersection with sidewalk chalk drawings and signs acknowledging the school community’s appreciation of Danny’s commitment to the safety of students.  The next morning when Danny arrives for his morning shift, he will be greeted by the deorations and students and famliles celebrating him with balloons, bubbles, signs and cards, as well as with Disney music (his favorite) on a portable speaker.

Local residents are invited to attend the early morning celebration of Danny Lowe’s commitment to the students of EECS.
