Are you interested in local history and want to get involved in the community? If so, you are invited to participate in the 10-week training class for people who would like to be volunteers in some of the area’s favorite historical sites.
The classes will be held at the Maine Historical Society, Congress Street, on Thursdays from 9:00 am to noon. Classes start on February 27th and conclude April 30th. Volunteers for this stimulating course receive instruction on area history, art and architecture as well as training on good guiding techniques.
Of the eght area’s historic sites, three are located on Munjoy Hill. They are: Eastern Cemetery, Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad and the Observatory. The other participants are: Tate House, Victor Mansion, Maine Historical Society (Wadsworth-Longfellow House), 5th Maine Regiment Museum and Spring Point LIghthouse.
