Today the “Safe Schools, Safe Communities,” campaign reported $300,000 in new contributions in the third quarter of the year – from July through September.
About 97 percent of all doors in today’s report are from Maine — 93 percent for the entire campaign — showing financial support is overhwleming from local donors throughout the state. The single largest individual contributor remains the Maine Gun Safety Coalition in the form of a loan of $190,000. More than 94 percent of MGSC’s donors live in Maine.
“We’re entering the final month of the campaign wih strong support from Mainers throughout the state,” said James Stretch, YES on 2 Campaign Manager. “We know that out opponents have the backing of the natioal gun lobby and their deep pockets, so our campaign to pass this life-saving law depends on our donors.”
As the campaign enters the final stretch resoures are devoted to communicating with voters and making sure supporterrs know to vote on Election Day. The campaign released its first ad two weeks ago.
