Women’s March in Portland in Solidarity with Nation-wide Marches; 1/21

The Monument at the Juncture of Congress Street and the Eastern Promenade From Where the Portland March Will Start.

Perhaps you like so many of us can’t participate in the Women’s March in Washington, DC. later this month, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t participate in a Portland March with similar goals.  That’s because:

A Women’s Walk in Portland is scheduled for Saturday, January 21st.  The Walk starts at 10:30 am at the monument at the top of Congress Street on the Eastern Promenade on Munjoy Hill. This peaceful Walk proceeds down Congress Street to Congress Square Park ending between noon-and 1:00 pm.

In addition to the connection to the DC and Augusta events, the Portland Walk aims to demonstrate support for women’s, civic and human rights.  Organizers are currently reaching out to residents of Greater Portland and beyond to foster diverse representation at the Walk. That includes immigrant groups, students, men, women and children.  Anyone wishing to participate, especially those not able to travel to Marches away, are encouraged to attend.

A permit for the Portland Walk was issued last month.  No snow date is planned.
