The Women’s Convention Coming to Detroit Late Next Month.

Whether you participated in one of the Women’s Marches here in Maine or in Washington, D.C. on January 21, 2017, you will likely remember the feeling of power and purpose you felt as you gathered with friends in protest over the ignorant attitudes that the in-coming Trump administration brought with it when Trump was inaugurated the day before.

The organizers of the March are convening a three-day Women’s Convention to be held in Detroit, Michigan next month as a follow-up on that momentum.  The Convention convenes on Friday morning at 9:00 am., October 27 and runs through 5:00 pm., on Sunday October 29, 2017.  This inaugural conference is expected to attract thousands, at least 5,000, from all backgrounds, to Detroit.

The purpose of the Convention is to turn the January 21st protests across this country into a movement.    The weekend will tap into the power of women in leadership as the fundamental, grassroots face for change.  There will be workshops and  inspiring forums to develop and upgrade skills and strategies for working toward collective liberation for women of all races, ethnicities, ages, abilities, etc. to resist the ignorance of Twisted Trump and his allies.

The cost is $295.00 per person.  For youth/students 25 and under, the cost is $125.00.  Scholarships are available as well.  Please keep in mind that ticket sales end on October 13, 2017.

In the meantime, if you can’t get to Detroit, but want to remember that January 21 protest across the country, please consider purchasing a Women’s March bumper sticker advertised on this blog. Lonngfellow Book’s, Monument Way in Portland has them for sale as well.
