At 2:42 am on Monday, July 29, 2024, Portland Police were dispatched to 5 Portland Street for a reportd of a shooting.  Upon arrival, police discovered a 42-year-old female who was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the arm.  She was transported to Maine Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Less than an hour later Police were able to locate the suspect at his residence at 243 High Street.  The Special Reaction Team (SRT) and Crisis Negotiations Team (CNT) were both called in to assist with the operation.  A search warrant was granted for the residence as the SRT set up a secure perimeter.

Randy Aron, 47, of Portland emerged from his residence less than an hour later and was taken into custody by members of the SRT. He has been chartged with Aggravated Attempted Murder, Elevated Aggravated Assault and Possession of Firearms by Prohibited Persons.

A firearm was recovered during the warrant execution.
