Mainers Want Fresh New Faces to Represent them in Washington, DC Such as Oyster Farmer and US Marine Vet Graham Platner, 41 – Do You Care what The Washington, DC Based “Atlantic” Editor Jeffrey Goldberg Thinks or Knows About Maine Elections?? Goldberg’s Expertise is in Foreign Affairs as in “Signalgate” – Not Maine Elections.

Signs Supporting Graham Platner for US Senate are Popping up All Over Portland like Spring Flowers. Haven’t Seen Any for Governor Mills Though.
“Graham Platner seemed like the kind of candidate Democrats say they want,” opens the diatribe published by “The Atlantic” on-line yesterday. Contrary to the implication, Graham Platner IS the candidate that Maine voters want to oppose Senator Susan Collins (R), a subordinate of President Trump. For many reasons, Mr. Platner is the best positioned to unseat her in the upcoming Senate race.
Specifically, according to a poll released on Thursday of this week by the University of New Hampshire Polling Center, 58% of Maine voters support Mr. Platner for the US Senate race. That, while only 24% of Maine voters support Governor Janet T. Mills (D) in the same poll. What happened?
The two, Mr. Platner and Governor Mills, are the Leading contenders to go toe to toe with Senator Collins next year. And Mainers desperately want to unseat the Spineless Collins next year; desperately!
The Spineless Collins is very vulnerable this election cycle. She voted anti-abortion Justice Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court. She voted for the appointment of Nutjob Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., to be a cabinet Secretary. The tongue-tied Senator is best known for failing to hold town halls with constituents. That’s because, as one member of her DC staff told this “Left Wing Lunatic” earlier this year, ” Senator Collins has access to the local newspaper.” A forum where no hard or follow-up questions are asked – nothing that would challenge her intellectual capacity.
Most Americans are appalled at Trump’s demolition of the East Wing for his grand ballroom; Spineless Collins is alleged to have responded that she hadn’t seen the plans yet for the new Trump Ballroom. Strike three or four or more. Anyway, she’s out!
The “Atlantic” author, Tyler A. Harper, with all his writing credentials ignored one – just one – of the many reasons Mr. Platner, 41 and a Marine veteran who served four tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan, continues to be the favorite of voters in Maine. Harper’s shallow reporting did not mention that Governor Janet T. Mills, a popular two-termer is seventy-seven (77) years old. Importantly, Governor Mills turns seventy-eight (78) on December 30 of this year – 2025. If she were to unseat Senator Collins, she’d be …….. oh, I can’t count that high ——————– years old when serving in Washington, DC. According to a report in the “Maine Monitor”, Governor Mills would be the oldest freshman senator in US history.
Mainers have common sense: we don’t want to elect a “senior” politician from way upstate Maine to start anew in far away Washington, DC. – its truly a hostile place these days; Mr. Platner is already battle tested having served in Leadership roles successfully on the battlefields of several war torn countries. He is battle tested. Governor Mills isn’t. She’s not the heir apparent either to the Senate throne! This is not a monarchy.
As impressive as Mr. Harper’s writing credentials might be to some, this LWL once worked for a US Senator from Connecticut in his DC office. Writing credits are laudable, but on the job experience matters as well.
For a schedule of Mr. Platner’s town halls, please visit post herein dated Sepember 27, 2015. He is supposed to be in Bath and Wiscasset late in the day on Monday, October 27, 2025.
