The West End Neighborhood Association (WENA) has launched a food drive that starts today, Monday, November 10 and runs through Friday, November 21, 2025. It was announced recently in order to assist with the recent loss of SNAP benefits to members of the community. The status of the program changes so frequently that this Left Wing Lunatic won’t try to recapture its current status. But there can be no doubt that the need will only grow as the price of food continues to increase, despite statements to the contrary by the Trump administration.
WENA has several suggestions for you on how to participate in this Food Drive that is taking place at the Reiche Community Center – using the Clark Streer entrance:
To donate canned goods and non-perishables you may place them in donation tubs at the Reiche Community Room as follows: 9 – 3 donations in the tubs in foyer at Door 11; 8 – 9:30 weekdays in the foyer (upstairs Door 11); 4 – 8, Monday and Thursday foyer Upstairs Door 11. On November 12, from 6:30 – 8, you may donate at the WENA annual meeting.
To donate money – cash/check, you may do so at the 11/12, 6:30 – 8, WENA annual meeting in the Reiche Community Room; 11/19, from 6 – 8 at the District 2 City Meeting in the Reiche Auditorium. Or you may send a check by mail to WENA, PO Box 7898, Portland, 04112, To donate on-line please go to: https://tinyuri.com/mta6fmmm.
“I know that Reiche Community School appreciates the generosity of WENA,” said Dave Briley, one of the Lead Teachers of Reiche School. “We are so lucky to be part of the West End Community and every little bit helps fill our food pantry for our families with food insecurity.”
