Voting Information for June 8th Municipal Election

Share

Tuesday, June 8, 2021 is Election Day for the Special Municipal Election for the Charter Commission and School Budget Referendum.  The city’s eleven locations will open at 7:00 am and close at 8:00 pm.  Polling locations will look the same as they did in November with booths spread out, frequent sanitizing and election workers will be wearing masks.  Voters are encouraged, but not required, to wear a mask or face covering when voting.

Based on your residence, you must vote at your polling place.  Same day voter registration is allowed at your polling location with proof of residency.

Absentee ballots must be returned to the municipal clerk no later than 8:00 pm on Election Day, June 8th.  Absentee ballots will be returned to the Clerk’s office in the Merrill Auditorium Lobby or the outside official drop box (Myrtle Street side of city hall) and not to your polling place.

If you requested an absentee ballot, but now wish to vote in person on Election Day,  you may do so as long as you have not returned your absentee ballot.

The Charter Commissioners will be chosen by using Ranked Choice Voting.  Unofficial results will be posted to the city’s website at: www.portlandmaine.gov as soon as they become available.
