US Senator Angus King.to be Keynote Speaker at 9:30 am.

The annual Veterans Day Observance will end with a wreath laying ceremony and speeches at City Hall at 11:00 am following the parade. Guest speakers include:  Ernest Shorey, Andrews Post 17, American Legion, Master of Ceremonies; Portland Mayor Michael Brennan; Hon Herb Adams Keynote speaker; Reverend William Doughty, Invocation and Benediction.

The observance begins at 9:30 am Andrews Square Rededication Ceremony, at 10:30 am the Parade Starts and ends at 11:00 am with speaking and a wreath laying  ceremony at City Hall Plaza.

The Andrews Square memorial was originally dedicated back in 1921 and was a gift from the Portland Rotary in memory of Harold T. Andrews, the first solider from Maine to die during WW1.  The restoration of the memorial has been a collaboration between the Portland Rotary, the City of Portland and Avesta Housing.  The restoration includes a new flag pole, and the restoration of the bronze plaque and granite base.  The keynote speaker will be US Senator Angus King.
