The child who died in a vehicle in Milford was transported to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta where an autopsy was performed on August 11, 2025 to determine the cause and manner of death. The Deputy Chief Medical Examiner reported that the cause and manner of death are currently pending additional studies, but that hyperthermia (an elevated body temperature) was consistent with the symptoms presented and was the most likely cause of death based on the current information.
On August 11, 2025, Kelly Brown had an innitial appearance at the Penobscot Judicial Center where she was formally charged with the crime of Manslaughter and bail was set at $50,000 This is an isolated incident with no ongoig public safety concerns More information will be released as it becomes available according to the Maine State Police.
