At 8:16 pm on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, the Portland Police Department responded to a report of a shot fired in the 600 block of Congress Street.  Minutes later a vehicle suspected to be involved was stopped in the Walgreens parking lot at 616 Forest Avenue.

Officers determined that a 20-year old Portland man had suffered a gunshot wound, while a 21-year old male sustained injuries from an interaction with a vehicle.  Both men sustained serious, but non life-threatening injuries and were transported to Maine Medical Center.

During the subsequent investigation, a search warrant was executed and items of significance to the incident were located.  No further details are available at this time.
