Two Alarm Fire in Portland Sends Two Adults to Hospital in Unknown Condition

On Friday morning, August 1, 2025, the Office of the State Fire Marshall, at the request of the Portland Fire Department, responded to 27 Broadway in Portland to assist with the investigation of a 2 alarm residential structure fire at a two-story single family home.  The home sustained significant damage to it.

First arriving fire personnel were met with heavy smoke and fire conditons while rendering care to those who had been inside when they arrived.  Two adults were transported to Maine Medical Center in Portland where their condition is unknown at this time.  The fire was brought under cotrol at 10:21 am.

Investigators from the FMO and PFD determined the cause of the fire was accodemtal; as a result of an electrical malfunction.  No additional information is available at this time according to Shannon Moss Public Informtion Officer, for the Maine Department of Public Safety, Augusta.
